The Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) has decided to pull out from the Thailand-based Miss Grand International, and will no longer renew its franchise, the organizer said on Monday night.
In a Facebook post, the 60-year-old pageant institution said it remains committed to producing world-class pageants and a “stellar roster of international winners.”
“Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) officially withdraws from Miss Grand International and will no longer renew its franchise. We thank the organizers of Miss Grand International and wish them the best in their future endeavors,” it stated. “With that said, we remain committed to delighting our followers and sponsors through the productions of world-class pageants that help propel Filipinas to reach their fullest potential and achieve greatness in an international stage.”
“For almost 60 years, we have built BPCI’s legacy in producing a stellar roster of international winners and over the decades we have enjoyed the immense support of our fans. We will be forever grateful for their dedication, passion, and love for Bb. Pilipinas and our Queens,” it further said.
BPCI said the organization will continue its legacy despite its withdrawal from the pageant, which recently installed Miss Grand Philippines Roberta Tamondong as 5th runner-up after the resignation of titleholder, Mauritius’ bet Yuvna Gookool. Tamondong originally finished in the Top 20.
Aside from Tamondong, Philippine bets Samantha Bernardo and Nicole Cordoves both finished as Miss Grand International first runner-up.
