I have always been a fag hag, so I immensely enjoyed watching “Drag Race Philippines” (DRP) on HBO Go. I can hardly wait for Season 2. What a stiff competition it was.

The 12 contestants put in a lot of blood, sweat and tears [not to mention makeup and wigs]. They were all-in and all-out. Their performances were buwis-buhay, as we say in show biz parlance.

Precious Paula Nicole (Queen P) was the fiercest of them all. She was crowned the Philippines’ first-ever Drag Race Superstar. Sashay, Queen P. The world is your runway. Your “drag to riches” story is truly awe-inspiring.

Here’s my chat with Queen P:

Aside from winning the crown, what’s the best thing DRP gave you?

It gave me so much confidence and power to continue what I’ve started, especially with my advocacy. It really feels like a reward after 12 years of doing drag.

What’s your message to new fans of the drag culture?

Thank you for embracing us. Hindi namin sasayangin ang oras, atensyon, suporta at pagmamahal na binibigay n’yo. And yes, we’re here to stay to inspire all of you.

How do you feel that drag in the Philippines is now occupying a larger stage?

Deserve! We have been working really hard for this for many years, and it’s about time for it to get the recognition and proper platform it deserves.

What do you hope to see in Season 2 of DRP?

More inspiring queens with a heart. The future of drag is very promising now that there are several opportunities opening up for us.

What would you tell young people who are still discovering their true identity? Just listen to your heart and always enjoy life’s journey because time moves so quickly. So, savor every moment. Don’t rush.

What’s your advice to drag queen wannabes?

It’s not going to be easy. Drag is a never-ending learning journey, so you have to be prepared, know who you are, and follow your heart.

How’s your love life?

I’m single and I am very focused on reaching my goals and dreams. My heart is happy and full of love because of my supporters—Precious Loves, Team Precious, and other supporters I have yet to meet. Love can wait.

Catriona’s marriage plans

In an event dubbed PH1 hosted by Catriona Gray, mWell celebrated the many firsts after a year of its launch and announced other pioneering efforts that help redefine not only telemedicine, but the entire health-care landscape as well.

PH1 witnessed the full display of the mWell app features that showcase its holistic approach to telemedicine—from doctor consultation, e-pharmacy, emergency services and home care to fitness and nutrition programs.

As Catriona said, “With this super app, we can say I am well amid the pandemic.”

When I was called for the live demo on how to use the app, I told the doctor in jest, “I have sleeping problems. I sleep with the wrong men.”

It was so amusing when big boss Manny V. Pangilinan (MVP) played along. When he was asked what his next business move would be, he said, “I will find the right guy to solve Dolly’s problem.” What a joy to see the lighter side of MVP.

I cornered Catriona and asked her if she and Sam Milby have marriage plans already. “He has not even proposed,” she quipped, chuckling. “’Di ako advance mag-isip.” So, for Catriona, marriage is still a grey area.
