Sam Milby has opened up on his limitations when it comes to “flexing” online and expressed concern over the effects of bashing on social media, especially for young individuals.

The “A Family Affair” actor, who seldom posts online, talked about his choice to keep most of his personal life away from social media during the virtual media conference for Star Magic’s digital video magazine, Flexon Tuesday, Oct. 25.

“I think in the last year, I’ve had maybe two posts. So I can’t say [much] about flexing on social media because I’m not really that active. It’s kind of a personal choice and I understand it’s part of the job. Sharing with the fans, I want to,” Milby admitted.

“Ang problema sa social media (The problem with social media)… it’s so toxic also. We live in a society where we love to judge, we love to hide behind some profile. Maybe even if you know it’s a troll,” he added.

While Milby is not personally bothered by online trolls, he was concerned over the effect of this “toxicity” on younger social media users.

“I’m more afraid sa mga bata ngayon because their sense of identity is solely on ‘My gosh, hindi nala-like ng mga tao ‘yung photo ko and may comments na ganito,'” he said. Milby acknowledged that while the intention of social media is “good and pure,” he now feels sad over Filipinos’ tendencies to bash and judge other people.

However, this is not the reason he chooses to keep his relationship with beauty queen Catriona Gray private. Instead, he simply prefers to keep his love life on the down-low.

“With my love life right now… kami ni Cat ([Catriona] and I), we want to keep as much as possible, more details about the relationship more private,” he said.

Milby and Gray confirmed their relationship during the actor’s birthday in May 2020. While they had since gone public about them being a couple, they remain low-key on social media when it comes to their relationship.

The couple recently went on a camping trip to Laguna last June and shared a stage for the first time during their Canada tour with Rayver Cruz and Marcelito Pomoy last May. EDV
