Barbie Imperial regrets defending Diego Loyzaga over cheating issue

Barbie Imperial said she regrets defending her ex-boyfriend, actor Diego Loyzaga, from cheating accusations involving him when they were still together.
The actress admitted this in response to a comment from one Melody Torcauator Lumague that says, “Ipinagtatanggol mo pa jowa mo noon, maghihiwalay din pala kayo (You kept on defending your boyfriend before, when the two of you would just eventually break up).”
Imperial spoke about this and mentioned social media personality Xian Gaza, as seen in a “mukbang and reading mean comments” vlog on her YouTube channel yesterday, Sept. 28.
“Totoo, sana hindi ko na lang ipinagtanggol. Kasi bati na kami ni Xian Gaza and in-explain niya sa akin na hindi naman daw talaga siya sa akin galit, do’n sa ex ko,” Imperial said. ([That is] true. I should have not defended him because Xian Gaza and I are already OK, and he explained to me that he was angry with my ex-boyfriend, not me.)
While the actress did not name Loyzaga, it can be recalled that the actor was hounded by cheating speculations in November last year, after Gaza accused him of visiting fellow actor AJ Raval at her home in Pampanga. Imperial came to Loyzaga’s defense at the time and clarified that he and Raval were just together for a movie shooting.
“In fairness naman kay Xian nung simula, hindi naman talaga ako ‘yung tina-target niya. Pero siyempre ‘pag nagmahal ka, you’ll do everything to protect them,” Imperial said. (In fairness to Xian at the time, [his statements] were really not aimed at me. But of course when you love someone, you will do everything to protect them.)
Imperial then stressed that it is her nature to defend her loved ones from issues and bashing, but she noted that she has learned her lessons.
“Medyo pinagsisihan ko ngang pinagtanggol—well, siguro worth it naman kasi minahal ko ‘yung tao e,” she added. (I somehow regret defending—well, maybe it was still worth it because I once loved the person.)
Imperial also responded to a netizen’s comment that Raval “won” Loyzaga’s heart, clarifying that Raval had already reached out to her and that they had settled the issues between them.
Imperial and Loyzaga’s breakup was confirmed to the public in February. Although they did not disclose the cause of the split, the former couple said they ended their relationship on good terms. Imperial also recently declared that she had “fully healed,” months after the breakup. /ra
