Since BFF Buboy (Cesar Montano) is family to me, I am privy to his colorful love life. So, I am glad that he finally found his match in Kath Angeles. During the “Sunshine Cruz” chapter of BFF’s life, I was already around.
Kath is the type of woman who would rather stay low-key. So I am thankful that she granted me an exclusive interview because we are mag-kumare and sisters. I admire her for being so supportive of BFF Buboy. As his girlfriend and mother of their their kids, Kath goes over and beyond the call of duty.
At long last, Kath and Shine met during the debut of Sam (daughter of BFF and Shine). The two hot mamas even had a fun dance showdown, while Buboy and other guests cheered them on.
At first, Kath was hesitant to join Buboy, but she promised Sam that she would attend her debut. Prior to the party, the couple took Sam, Angelina, Chesca and their three kids to Subic to celebrate Sam’s birthday.
“It happened in God’s perfect time. There was no awkwardness at all when AngeIina introduced me to her mom (Shine),” Kath said. “I just felt a bit shy when I was called to join them onstage because I am not from show biz.”
When I asked her if she feels jealous of Shine, Kath explained. “I have no reason to be jealous anymore. I am way past that stage. Sobrang touched ako sa posts ni Shine thanking me for treating the Tres Marias (Buboy and Shine’s daughters) well. The three girls are so sweet to me and my kids. I love watching them dote on their little siblings.”
Kath also told me that her kids with BFF (Sam, Liam and Kristen) have a Viber group with the Tres Marias, which only goes to show how close they are.
Shine’s boyfriend Macky Mathay and Buboy also met for the first time. The two gentlemen are the epitome of coolness. Kath is open to the idea of going on vacation trips with Shine, Macky, Buboy and their kids as one happily blended modern family. The fab foursome is living proof that there comes a time when one kind of love gives way to another.
Woman’s ‘pile of dirty laundry’ in ‘Bula’
Watch how a woman tries to remove the stains of her sins and dark past in “Bula” (now streaming on Vivamax). The sexy thriller directed by Bobby Bonifacio Jr. stars Ayanna Misola, Gab Lagman, Rob Guinto and Mon Confiado.
It tells the story of Meldie (Ayanna), a laundromat worker who’s married to a disabled man (Mon). Behind her innocent looks lies a manipulative woman. She has a fetish for trying out her client’s clothes as an act of foreplay that satisfies her sexual fantasies.
Meldie falls for her client Jacob (Gab), who is dating another woman, Celine (Rob). Uncover the pile of dirty laundry this mysterious woman hides.
Here are quotes from Ayanna (A), Bobby (B), Gab (G) and Rob (R):
A: My character has an exciting transformation each time she wears other people’s clothes. As Meldie, I had to do some funny antics. For the first time in a movie, I danced and made love to a disabled man.
B: In our laundry, untold secrets are revealed. That thought has always intrigued me, so I came up with this film. I like twisting ordinary things and adding mystery to it. It was fun to play with the character portrayed by Ayanna. Kakaiba ang “saltik” n’ya. Nakakatuwa siya na nakakakilabot at the same time. The audience will wonder where her craziness comes from. Meldie will leave her mark on the audience.
G: I don’t mind changing my image. I can’t play goody-goody roles always. I have to level up.
R: I don’t want to be stereotyped in the sexy genre. It’s just a stepping stone for me. I want to evolve as a versatile actress. But playing sexy helps me grow in my craft and as a woman.
A: In real life, I want to try on clothes of the Kardashians. I want to feel what it’s like to be as rich and famous as they are.
B: Our movie has an “alert level 5” of sexiness. It’s a tale about sex, but it’s not just a sexy flick. Binusisi namin ang kwento. After directing “Tahan,” I changed my process. In our film, I applied a fresh, new approach.
G: Our movie will show that looks can be deceiving. There are many people who seem pure and clean, but have demented minds.
R: In our film, my character’s boyfriend has another woman. In real life, I don’t want to share my man. It will drive me nuts wondering what she has that I don’t have.
Spotlight on Vince Maristela
Every big star was once a newbie. That’s why the Kapuso network formed “Sparkada.” It serves as a training ground for future stars.
One of its members is Vince Maristela. The 21-year-old cutie is a former child star who portrayed the younger versions of well-known actors. He’s now all grown-up and raring to sparkle.
Here’s my chat with Vince:
What makes you stand out from other Sparkada artists?
I can work with all types of people. I treat them equally, and I make sure that I have good relationships with them.
How do you handle bashers?
I believe in the quote that says, “Haters are fans in denial.” That’s why I see them as a form of motivation.
What served as your “baptism of fire” in show biz?
When I found out that I was part of the show “Luv Is: Caught In His Arms,” I was excited and nervous because I had to overcome different challenges. But with the support of my coartists I did well and felt confident.
