In hopes of having his music introduced to the current and future generation of listeners, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid recently assigned his catalog to Viva Music Publishing Inc. (VMPI).

With Viva managing and curating more than 50 of Ogie’s compositions in the coming years, fans can expect new versions of the OPM icon’s well-loved hits, which can also appear in future soundtracks, musicals or other productions by Viva Entertainment.

Happy

“That’s our thrust and I’m happy with that,” the renowned music artist said in a statement.

Among the songs Ogie entrusted to Viva are “Kailangan Ko’y Ikaw,” “Hanggang Ngayon,” “Hindi Magbabago,” “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,” “Ikaw Lang,” “Kailangan Kita,” “Kung Mawawala Ka,” “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka,” “Sa ’Yo Lamang” and “Sa Piling Mo”—some of which have been used as themes for various films by Viva.

Ogie also starred in Viva’s comedy flicks like “Captain Barbel,” “Pedro Penduko II,” “Mahirap Maging Pogi” and “Pitong Gamol.” “My music is who I am. It’s part of my history, my life. And, why not Viva? The company has been a huge part of my career since the very beginning,” he said.
