Hidilyn Diaz and her coach-trainer Julius Naranjo are set to tie the knot in Baguio City on July 26, a year after she won the Philippines’ first Olympic gold medal.

The weightlifter revealed this while showing her and Naranjo’s prenup portraits taken by Mayad Studios, via her Facebook page yesterday, July 15. The prenup photos were taken at three locations: Northern Blossom Flower Farm, Baguio Country Club and the Stronghold Athletics gym.

“Mag-iisang taon na pala ang pagpapanalo natin ng Gold medal sa Olympics, at ngayon July 26, 2022, magpapakasal na [kami] ni Julius Irvin Hikaru T. Naranjo,” she told the public. (It has been almost a year since we won the gold medal at the Olympics, and this July 26, 2022, [Julius] and I will get married.)

Diaz recalled the trials she and Naranjo faced as a couple. She noted that despite the judgment, doubts, tears and sacrifices, their love for each other prevailed, along with their love for their work, the country and God.

The couple’s wedding will be held at St. Ignatius Church in Baguio, as per Cebu Daily News today, July 16.

Diaz made history in July last year, after winning the Philippines’ first Olympic gold in Tokyo. She and Naranjo then announced their engagement a few months later in October 2021.

The Olympic champion tapped veteran designer Francis Libiran to design her gown for her and Naranjo’s special day.  /ra
