The highly anticipated sixth season of “Black Mirror” is starting to take shape as the show revealed part of its cast and production is said to be already underway.

Some of the actors who will be appearing on the series are Aaron Paul (“Breaking Bad”), Kate Mara (“The Martian,” “House of Cards”), Zazie Beetz (“Deadpool 2,” “Joker”), Danny Ramirez (“Top Gun: Maverick”) and Josh Hartnett (“Pearl Harbor,” “Oppenheimer”). Also joining them are Paapa Essiedu, Clara Rugaard, Auden Thornton and Anjana Vasan, as per Variety last Wednesday, July 13.

“Black Mirror” season 6, which was first revealed to be in the works back in May, is now believed to have started production, as per report. The recently casted actors will be appearing in three episodes of the dystopian anthology series, and more castings are expected to be announced.

A source close to the production earlier stated in reports that each new episode of the series will be treated as an individual film, in line with recent installments which had episodes exceeding an hour of runtime.

Specific storylines and details are yet to be revealed as of this writing, though season 6 will reportedly have more episodes than season 5, which only had three episodes: “Striking Vipers” starring Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Matteen II, “Smithereens” with Andrew Scott and Topher Grace, and “Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too,” starring Miley Cyrus.

“Black Mirror” last premiered on Netflix in June 2019. Back in 2020, creator Charlie Brooker cast doubt on the future of “Black Mirror,” saying he felt unsure about whether the public could still “stomach” stories about “societies falling apart.”

Despite this, the new season is the first one to be released since Brooker and his creative partner Annabel Jones left the production company House of Tomorrow, which handled the series’ latest seasons. “Black Mirror” is now produced by the pair’s own production company Broke & Bones.

Since the two parted with with House of Tomorrow, they have produced comedies and mockumentary specials such as “Death to 2020” and “Death to 2021.”

Aside from its commercial success, “Black Mirrror” also received several awards including Emmys for Outstanding Television Movie for its episodes “San Junipero” (2016), “USS Callister” (2017) and “Bandersnatch” (2018).  /ra
