Liza Diño welcomed actor Tirso Cruz III as the new Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) chairman, despite her receiving no “official communication” from the Office of the President about said appointment.

Cruz, who was among the appointed officials of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., earlier took oath as the new FDCP head at Malacañang Palace.

Diño assured the public that she is aware of her successor in her FDCP post, through a video message on her Facebook page yesterday, July 5.

“I just want to let you know that the agency has also read the latest development regarding the chairmanship of the FDCP online,” she said. “While we haven’t received any official communication from the Office of the President, [we] are preparing for a smooth process sa (on the) transition and turnover ng (of) FDCP to our new chair.”

“We will welcome him pagdating na pagdating niya dito (once he arrives here [in the agency]),” she added, apparently referring to Cruz.

Diño then expressed her gratitude and appreciation for the support she has been receiving.

“I just want to take this opportunity to thank everyone sa lahat ng suporta ninyo, sa lahat ng messages niyo (for all your support and messages) — thank you so much for your love and support,” she stated.

Cruz’s appointment came amid former President Rodrigo Duterte’s reappointment of Diño as the national film agency’s chair last March. Diño, who was supposed to serve for another three-year term that lasts until 2025, has been the FDCP’s head since 2016. JB
