Tom Rodriguez shows cryptic photo amid annulment rumors with Carla Abellana

Tom Rodriguez has returned to social media and dropped a cryptic photo of someone breaking free from chains amid rumors that his estranged wife, actress Carla Abellana, is preparing for an annulment of their marriage.

The actor, who appeared to have deactivated his Instagram account last March, marked his return to the platform by showing a silhouette of hands breaking chains via his Instagram Stories yesterday, June 1.

Rodriguez opted not to give an explanation for the said photo.

As of this writing, Abellana still follows Rodriguez on Instagram, while the actor appears to have unfollowed her on the platform.

This comes after entertainment columnist Cristy Fermin claimed in her YouTube vlog last May 26 that Abellana was preparing documents for an annulment. Meanwhile, her co-host Rommel Chika claimed that Rodriguez is currently in the United States. Neither Rodriguez nor Abellana has confirmed these speculations as of this writing.

Rumors about Rodriguez and Abellana’s supposed split have been around since last January, after fans noticed that the two unfollowed, then followed each other again on Instagram. They also saw that Abellana was not wearing her wedding ring in her YouTube vlog on Feb. 5. Despite this, Rodriguez declared love for her last Feb. 11.

The actress’ father, actor Rey “PJ” Abellana, revealed last March that his daughter and Rodriguez were indeed having marital problems. He also said in the interview that a “one-night stand” was involved in the couple’s marital woes, but he later retracted his statement.

Carla and Rodriguez married in October 2021, after about seven years of being in a relationship.  /ra
