We sometimes forget how unconditional our mothers’ love for us is because they’re always behind us regardless of our triumphs and trials.
This Mother’s Day, we pay special tribute to the role that these extraspecial women play in society by getting some of GMA Network’s biggest and most exciting stars to talk about the selfless, loving women who tirelessly rally behind them.
For this exclusive treat, we asked them to talk about the lessons they learned from their mothers that they want their kids—or future kids—to be guided by.

It’s really more of having a good heart and being concerned with the people around you—I think that’s one of the best traits I’ve learned from my mom. It’s also one of the things we should consider because having a good heart will have a long-term effect on people.
You would be recognized for having a good and kind heart, and not just for your accomplishments in life. So having a good heart is top priority.
BEA ALONZO
My mom would always say, “Buntot mo, hila mo.” What that means is, if you make a decision, you have to be able to stand by it—kailangan, kaya mong panindigan! Before you make any drastic decisions, kailangang pag-isipan mo ng maraming, maraming beses. I’d like my kids to learn from that very same lesson in the future, so that they can avoid making rash and reckless choices. Huwag padalus-dalos.
Because of that wisdom, somehow, kapag nagdedesisyon ako, kinakailangan kong pag-isipan ng maraming beses. As a result, I get to make sound and sensible decisions because I was able to weigh things carefully, rather than rushing into tricky situations that could affect my life.
GLAIZA DE CASTRO
One of the lessons I’ve learned from Nanay is the virtue of patience. Growing up, we weren’t used to getting everything we wanted right away. We were disciplined to wait and pray. She continues to remind us that prayer is the key to dealing with any fear or anxiety, so I want to teach that to my kids as well.
JULIE ANNE SAN JOSE
For me, the lesson I got from my mom is to always be good. We’ve always been her No. 1 priority. My mom is always there to guide us in everything we do. She’s the most selfless, as well as the strongest person in my life. She takes care of our family, day in and day out.
POKWANG
Manaig ang takot sa Diyos—that’s what I learned from Nanay—because if you fear God, everything else follows. Be fair, strong and unwavering when you’re doing the right thing.
KOKOY DE SANTOS
One crucial lesson I learned from my ermats (mom) is to always be appreciative of things, whether big or small. Show people how grateful you are, be thankful to those who have been kind to you, and work very hard for the things that you’re passionate about.
Masarap sa pakiramdam na simula pa noon, kahit pa walang naniniwala sakin, I knew that she would always be there to support me in whatever endeavor I pour my heart into.
ALTHEA ABLAN
The lessons that I learned from my mom which I will never forget are to always have a grateful heart, always work hard in whatever you do, and never stop learning. She also taught me how to be open with her. She would always tell me not to keep secrets from her because I can share anything with her.
My mother is my everything … she’s my best friend. And to my future kids, I will teach them the same things my mom taught me.
