If there’s one thing the late “King of Comedy” Dolphy passed on to his 18 children, it’s generosity, Epy Quizon said.
“The whole family is giving. We learned from our father who’s very generous. Back in the day, I remember people would line up outside his dressing room, and he would give them [money],” he said in a virtual conference.
When the pandemic hit two years ago, the actor thought he would end up being stingy with his money. “In terms of the monetary side, I thought I would be more greedy because the family or its future is under threat. But that didn’t really happen because you see and feel for the people around you who are in need,” said Epy, who’s part of the Vivamax movie “Greed.”
“It’s not really in my nature to be greedy. That’s probably why I didn’t become a millionaire,” he quipped. “Since I have been working for quite a while, I should have a lot of savings by now. But our father taught us to be generous, which we all practice until now.”
But greed doesn’t only apply to money or material possessions. “It comes in other forms, it can be emotional. Maybe we became greedy for time with our father, because there are 18 of us. It’s more on the emotional selfishness, You want your father to give you attention,” he related.
