Whenever he is asked for tips on how to live healthily and take care of one’s heart, actor and triathlete Matteo Guidicelli said his answer has always been short and sweet: “My wife takes care of my heart.”
“What they say about ‘eat, pray, love,’ is true,” says the husband of pop superstar Sarah Geronimo. “Having a happy home and a positive mindset is our solution to everything. My wife provides me with that. Of course, there’s always a little negativity here and there, but you have to know how to balance things. Your outlook in life is important because it resonates with what you feel inside.”
“At home, my wife has many surprises. There are cakes served every other day; sometimes, we have tres leches or cookies,” said Matteo of Sarah’s newly developed interest in baking. “I indulge, but I also know how to balance. We live a healthy lifestyle and this is by choice.”
Matteo said he felt lucky that none of his immediate family got infected by the COVID-19 virus.
“We try to be as careful as possible. We follow the rules. We appreciated the basics in living. We just enjoyed ourselves in the house during the lockdowns. We now have more dogs, also plants. We also tried to move forward. We know that we just can’t stay in our little bubble at home forever. We have to do things out there, eventually,” Matteo told Inquirer Entertainment in a recent virtual chat.
He added that it’s good that the virus has now become “more manageable.” The actor recalled: “When [actress] Iza Calzado announced that she has COVID-19 two years ago, the news felt so shocking. Now, news of someone getting infected has become ‘a little normal’ for everybody. In fact, the Omicron variant may be highly contagious but not as deadly as the ones circulating before. People recover from it rather quickly. I just hope that in the coming months we’ll experience a normal flow.”
Matteo further said: “But of course, we can’t ignore the fact that many of our friends and kababayans have lost a lot because of COVID-19. That’s why, at the end of the day, it’s also important for us to ‘stop and smell the flowers.’ We don’t know how long we will exist in this world.”
The Guidicellis, aside from putting up their own company The G Production, have been keeping themselves busy making content for Matteo’s YouTube channel. Last month, they uploaded a vlog about their nature tripping in Rizal province.
“Some content creators produce only a specific content while others just share experiences. For Sarah and I, we don’t do it often, only if we’re enjoying the moment and feel like sharing,” he pointed out.
Matteo said that what’s best about producing content is “when people show how they appreciate what we put out there. It’s not something that we have to do, but something we like to do. It’s nice when people give positive comments. It feels fulfilling. The tiring part is carrying the camera because it gets heavy after a while,” he said.
The Guidicelli’s adventure vlog in Rizal also features their five dogs. The video showed how much they care for their fur babies.
“I’ve been a dog-lover even before I got married, but my wife has taught me a different dimension of love in relation to dogs, as well as to animals in general,” Matteo said. “There are a lot of people who treat their dogs the same way we do, but there are also a lot who don’t understand us. I just want to say that they’re amazing creatures and they bring so much joy to our home.” INQ
