Zendaya blushed in pink for Italian luxury brand Valentino’s Pink PP Collection, and Filipino fans seemed to have associated it with the campaign color of presidential candidate Vice President Leni Robredo.

Zendaya, brand ambassador for Valentino, slayed with an all-pink ensemble from the collection, as shown on Valentino’s Instagram page last Sunday, March 6.

“Pink is the color of love, community, energy and freedom,” it said.

The coincidental matching of the brand’s color theme and Robredo’s campaign color then came to Filipino fans’ attention, with some netizens on Twitter calling the American actress-model a “kakampink,” which refers to supporters of Robredo.

“Our fellow kakampink, Zendaya Dela Cruz, on her way to Leni-Kiko rally,” one @MARKmalolos quipped, while showing photos of Zendaya donning an all-pink outfit in Valentino’s runway show.

“Zendaya said let Leni lead, babae abante, babae [ang] kinabukasan (Move forward, women. Women are the future)… She’s a kakampink,” another netizen @pussynakrubb said.

Meanwhile, supporters of presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and his running mate Sara Duterte also reacted on the brand’s theme. For example, one Kath Bustamante commented with the hashtag #BBMSARA2022 on Valentino’s series of Facebook posts.

One Yojek Lumbera commented “BBM” while one Felize Principe called the luxury brand “pinklawan,” a term which combines pink with yellow, the color identified with the opposition’s Liberal Party.
