I plan to make this performance as iconic as the original,” declared actor Jake Cuenca, who will be appearing in the 2022 remake of the psychological thriller “Sa Aking Mga Kamay.”

Jake is working alongside Arjo Atayde in the new version titled “The Cattleya Killer,” which is being directed by Dan Villegas. They are reviving the roles originally portrayed by Christopher de Leon and Aga Muhlach, respectively.

A big fan

“It’s one of the movies that inspired me to become an actor. I was a big fan of that project. To do its installment is such an honor for me,” said Jake who is also a cast member of the drama series “Viral Scandal” that is currently streaming on the Kapamilya Channel.

The actor said that he has been doing a lot of homework for the project. “The job doesn’t start when you get to the set. It starts months prior to that. You start practicing the craft even when the audience isn’t watching. What they see onscreen is merely the tip of the mountain of work that’s just for you,” he pointed out.

Jake, who recently renewed his contract with ABS-CBN, said he considered joining the Kapamilya network in 2006 as the highlight of his career. Prior to this, he made several projects for the rival GMA network as a teenager.

“Back then, I would just imagine the roles I wanted to portray. I didn’t think I would be worthy enough to play them. I didn’t think my prior acting experiences would be enough to eventually land these dream roles. They eventually came true when I worked with ABS-CBN. My bosses here gave their full trust in me. They banked on me,” Jake began.

‘My home’

To aspiring talents, he has these pieces of advice. “The pointers I got back then are the ones I’m giving you now. Just be you: whatever quirks you have, keep them. That unique thing that people remember you by makes you different from everyone else. With that said, you also have to be kind and considerate to the people around you. Be professional and be ready to put in the work.”

Asked why it’s important for him to be a Kapamilya, Jake replied: “This is my home. At the same time, producing these quality projects, pushing the limits of entertainment and revolutionizing the industry, I believe that ABS-CBN is the only network that can do all these things. I’m just happy to be here.” INQ
