Rita Avila stressed that she and King of Talk Boy Abunda are still good friends, even after her disapproval of Abunda’s manner of interviewing Vice President Leni Robredo in his recent interview series on presidentiables.

Avila, a vocal supporter of Robredo, earlier expressed her dismay over Abunda’s interview of Robredo, pointing out how Abunda seemed to interfere or cut Robredo’s answers, as if he’s against what she’s saying.

To clarify matters between her and Abunda, Avila spoke about her friendship with the TV host, noting how they still respect each other despite having opposing views on certain matters. This she stated on her Facebook page on Friday, Jan. 28.

“For the longest time, Boy and I have been friends though we do not see each other often. We are both outspoken and honest, yet, we can still respect each other even if we say dissenting comments or otherwise about relevant issues,” she said.

Avila then talked about how she reached out to the TV host “out of decency,” and how they promised to remain good friends despite the issue.

“Out of decency, I reached out to him and he called to return the respect,” she stated. “In his appreciation for my trust, we promised to remain as good friends in this kind of world.”

Meanwhile, in a separate post also on Friday, Avila pointed out that there’s nothing wrong with voicing out her opinion, after some netizens criticized her calling out Abunda.

“Boy didn’t see anything wrong with my public opinion, you are free to think of what you want but what matters to me is Boy,” she stated. “I felt free to voice out because I know Boy will accept my honesty. I felt free to voice out because it was also the voice of many.”

She then quoted Abunda who stressed how “two open-minded friends can be,” while also thanking those who saw the good lesson from their exchange.

“Kaya nga sabi sa akin ni Boy (That’s why Boy told me), ‘Tell them that I called [you] up after reading your text message so they could see how proper [and] respectful two [open-minded] friends can be,'” Avila added.

Abunda’s interview with Robredo is part of his interview series with the five 2022 presidential aspirants. The King of Talk also interviewed Sen. Panfilo Lacson, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., Manila mayor Isko Moreno and Sen. Manny Pacquiao. JB
