Iya Villania revealed that her second son with her husband, fellow TV host Drew Arellano, has tested positive for COVID-19 amid her isolation.
Villania disclosed the latest development in her family’s ordeal with the coronavirus on her Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 12. She showed herself wearing a face mask while her 3-year-old Leon sleeps next to her.
“I knew chances were slim but after almost a week, our little kuya (as well as our ate [house helper] that takes care of Alana) has joined me on the dark side… This [COVID-19] is so tricky ah!” she said, noting that Leon had woken up with a fever and vomited.
Villania then explained that given the new infections in their household, those who already tested positive earlier had to prolong their quarantine periods since those who contracted COVID-19 share only one isolated area of their home.
“It’s not as simple as positives with positives and negatives with negatives. The moment someone tests positive and is put in a room with other positives, the most recent positive’s day [one] becomes everyone else’s day [one],” she added.
Villania, who is pregnant with her fourth child, has been isolating with Arellano over the past few days. Prior to Leon joining her, the couple had decided that Arellano “join the ‘clean’ side” since he had already been in isolation for seven days.
“Thank goodness he (Arellano) tested negative in [two] antigen tests, showing that he was no longer infectious. So now he’ll continue his quarantine on the ‘clean’ side with a mask on to help take care of Alana (her youngest child) [whose] mother and yaya are both now in isolation,” she told fans.
The “Mars Pa More” host also hoped for the best for her two other children, as well as their family’s house helpers who are “keeping the home from falling apart.”
“This is so so tricky! It’s almost like it’s better if everyone just gets [sick] so that you can all start and end together, but then you also don’t want to risk it and still hold onto that hope that others are [spared],” she said.
Despite her family’s situation, Villania is still thankful to God for allowing her and her husband to “get through” the disease first so they could take care of her children if they do contract the coronavirus.
“Lord, [please] don’t let it be harsh on the kids. Virtual hugs to all the people in this same tricky situation!” she addressed the public.
Villania revealed last Monday, Jan. 10, that she was COVID-19 positive, just a week after she announced that she and Arellano are expecting their fourth child.
Fellow celebrities Saab Magalona, Bianca Gonzalez and Gretchen Fullido were among those who wished for the speedy recovery of Villania and her family. /ra
