Ellen Adarna avoids being depressed by choosing not to be depressed

Ellen Adarna has advised her fans on how to keep one’s self motivated, particularly letting them know how she personally avoids being depressed — by choosing not to be depressed, by exercising and honoring her commitment to herself.

Adarna stressed the importance of being disciplined through working out, after a fan asked her what keeps her motivated through her Instagram story yesterday, Jan. 11.

“I am not motivated everyday, most days I’m just like (meh) and when I workout I still feel (meh) but I promised myself that I’ll do it and I’m disciplined so I do it,” she said.

“My motivation is that I don’t want to fall back into depression again because rule number one for mental health is to always keep your word and promises you make to yourself,” she added. “That way, you will always trust yourself and believe in yourself that you can.”

In 2020, Adarna underwent mental training in Bali, Indonesia, after being diagnosed with depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). She then assured her fans that she was “101% okay now” after the training.

Adarna tied the knot with actor Derek Ramsay in a dreamy wedding in Bataan last November. The couple with Elias, Adarna’s son with actor John Lloyd Cruz, have since spent most of their time bonding. They recently went to Bukidnon for a family trip, where they went ziplining. JB
