Iya Villania has tested positive for COVID-19 while pregnant, and opened up on her heartbreak over being isolated from her children while she battles the disease.
The actress-TV host revealed her condition while showing her children standing behind a glass door on her Instagram page yesterday, Jan. 10. She is currently pregnant with her fourth child with her husband, fellow TV host Drew Arellano, who is in isolation with her.
“The situation here in Casa Arellano. Drew and I are still hanging onto that little chance that maybe the kids are spared,” she told fans.
Villania added that her eldest son, Primo, and her second child, Leon, have been handling her isolation well. However, her daughter Alana has been crying for her.
“Primo gets it, Leon is okay too because he follows his kuya’s (older brother’s) lead, but Alana? Boy, it broke my heart to see her cry for me and not being able to console her even for a bit,” she admitted.
Villania then addressed fellow parents who are currently away from their children and unable to console them.
“This post is for all mamas and papas that are going [through] the same thing and have to endure not hugging and kissing their children. This was the hardest thing to accept upon learning I was [positive],” she said. “So mamas in this same situation, you are not alone!”
The TV host also gave a tip to fellow mothers who are in the same situation as her: try not to cry amid their condition.
“[The] tears will only cause nasal congestion and lengthen recovery! I know, I know… ang hirap (it’s difficult)! Man, I cried! But you have to get over it as soon as you can and get in that speed car towards recovery for your family,” Villania advised.
Fellow celebrities Michael V., Camille Prats and LJ Reyes extended their sympathies to Villania and Arellano. They also expressed hope that Villania will get well soon.
Villania announced just last Jan. 3 that she and Arellano are expecting their fourth child. She and Arellano welcomed Primo in 2016, Leon in 2018 and their only daughter so far, Alana, in 2020. /ra
