(We are running this guide to help you plan your holiday moviegoing activity during the pandemic. The 47th Metro Manila Film Festival, or MMFF, runs from Dec. 25 to Jan. 7, 2022.)
“Love at First Stream”
Directed by Cathy Garcia- Molina; stars Daniela Stranner, Anthony Jennings, Kaori Oinuma, Jeremiah Lisbo, Iggy Boy Flores, Pinky Amador and Agot Isidro; produced by Star Cinema and Kumu Philippines.
The film tells the stories of V (Stranner), Tupe (Jennings), Megumi (Oinuma) and Gino (Lisbo) as they dream and love in a world that has become wildly digital due to the pandemic.
“This is my love letter to all generations,” says Molina. “This film isn’t only for the teens, but also for parents like me. This is a personal project … it’s very close to my heart. I learned a lot while making this in relation to understanding my children. I don’t want parents fighting with their kids. I want them to understand each other, hopefully, through this film.“
Ella Palileo, who cowrote the story with Kookai Labayen and Isabelle Policarpio, said the film offers “several perspectives on how people react to love, pain and disappointment … At the end of the day, we all want to be loved and have different ways to seek it. This film has been very enlightening for us.”
