Why Sarah is thankful to Sharon
MANILA, Philippines—Singer-actress Sarah Geronimo was pleasantly “surprised” when Megastar Sharon Cuneta rushed to her aid at the height of her word war late last year with sexy rival Cristine Reyes over her former boyfriend Rayver Cruz.
“I am thankful to Miss Sharon,” she told Inquirer during a thanksgiving bash for her new film, “Catch Me … I’m in Love,” with Gerald Anderson and Matteo Guidicelli.
Sharon made it clear in an earlier interview that Sarah didn’t ask her to intervene. She’s no tattle tale, Sarah asserted. “We were not that close at the time, and yet she vouched for me. It was overwhelming,” Sarah said in Filipino. She said Sharon thus gave her an example that she could emulate.
“She showed me how to be a true friend. She’d do anything to defend a friend, but remain civil and polite. I’ll try to be that kind of friend.”
Show biz pals keep her grounded and humble, Sarah said. As such, she could not comprehend rumors that she threw “Catch Me” co-star Charee Pineda out of the dressing room on the set. “Charee herself was shocked by that story,” Sarah related. “I hope that will be clarified soon.”
But she doesn’t intend to investigate. “I don’t feel a need to explain myself.” Mom Divine agreed with Sarah: “We have no time to dwell on these issues.”

The seemingly unending stream of controversies fails to daunt her, though. “I’m used to it,” she said.
Not comfortable
Although relieved that she has patched things up with Cristine, Sarah declined a suggestion to perform with Cristine and Rayver in a production number on ABS-CBN’s Sunday variety show, “ASAP XV.”
“My mom and I told the staff that I wasn’t comfortable performing with Rayver yet, although I could join Cristine onstage anytime because she’s also a girl and I understand her,” the singing champ said.
“I may not be able to control my emotions [if I go onstage with Raver]. I’m just being true to myself. Why should the three of us perform together? I hope people will be more sensitive to our feelings.”
