Mandy Teefey, mother of American singer Selena Gomez, survived a near-death experience following hospitalization due to double pneumonia.
Teefey spoke about her experience after her Entrepreneur magazine cover — where she appeared with Gomez and their business partner Daniella Pierson — received unsolicited comments on her weight, as seen on her Instagram page on Saturday, Nov. 20. The post includes a screenshot of a message she received, offering her “an effective way to lose weight.”
“I wasn’t ever going to discuss this, but I knew when the Entrepreneur cover came out comments on my weight were going to be [direct-messaged] to me,” she said.
“I was out of the hospital for maybe [three and a half] weeks from double pneumonia. I was told I had days to live,” she revealed.
Teefey also narrated how she had “miracle” doctors who “fought” with her all throughout her fatal experience.
“I had miracle [doctors] and love from my family and friends to keep me going. I fought. The [doctors] fought and I was one of the few who made it out,” she said.
Despite her health concerns, Teefey assured her supporters that she never gave up and will continue working on herself at her own pace.
“It’s a miracle I am here and could [care less] if that means I’m a 16 instead of an 8. Much love to everyone,” she stated.
Gomez has yet to comment on the matter, as of writing.
Teefey and Gomez, together with Pierson, have recently put up “Wondermind,” a mental fitness platform which focuses on routine “to better understand your mind.” JB
