Angeline Quinto admits she and Erik Santos tried being a couple

Angeline Quinto revealed that she and her fellow singer Erik Santos took a shot at being a couple, though their attempt at a relationship did not work out.
Quinto admitted this during an interview with broadcaster Karen Davila for the latter’s YouTube vlog yesterday, Oct. 23. She was opening up about her love life, which prompted Davila to ask about her relationship with Santos.
“Singing partner ko po talaga [si Erik], isa sa mga matatalik kong kaibigan sa industriya,” Quinto said. (Erik is really my singing partner, one of my best friends in the industry.)
When asked if she and Santos ever tried to be in a relationship with each other, the “Star Power” grand finalist answered affirmatively.
“Ginawa namin ’yun kaya lang para kaming natatawa sa isa’t isa,” Quinto recalled. “Kaya sabi ko ‘Pogs, ’wag nating pilitin. Talagang magkaibigan lang tayo,’ kasi minsan magiging sweet kami tapos matatawa na lang kami.”
(We tried it but we end up laughing at each other. So I told him “Pogs, let’s not force it. We’re really just friends,” because sometimes we would be sweet to each other but we end up laughing.)
Quinto and Santos were rumored to be dating in the past and grew close to each other’s families that they were comfortable enough to joke about getting married. However, the two insisted that they are just friends.
Quinto also revealed she is currently in a “serious” relationship with a non-showbiz boyfriend, whom she has been dating since last year.
According to Quinto, she met her special someone through a mutual friend in Sampaloc, Manila. She did not state the name of the mystery man.
“Gusto ko na mas private na lang,” she told Davila. “Kasi syempre ’yung trabaho natin masyado nang alam ng publiko.” (I want it to just be private. Because our work is already exposed to the public.) JB
