MANILA, Philippines — The Knowledge Channel returned to television screens Tuesday, World Teachers’ Day.

The iconic educational channel will now be available again in Metro Manila, Baguio, Naga, Metro Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, and Zamboanga through digital TV boxes.

The comeback was made possible after it secured a partnership with the broadcast company BEAM.

The channel said that it plans to reach over 10 million Filipino households, providing them over 1,500 video lessons, including programs hosted by media personalities such as Robi Domingo, Enchong Dee, and MayMay Entrata, as well as online educators Lyqa Maravilla and Peter Esperanza through digital, cable, and direct-to-home satellite TV.

The channel was forced to close down after the nonrenewal of ABS-CBN’s franchise, and the National Telecommunication Commission’s cease and desist order.

Despite the closure, however, the channel started a “School at Home” campaign through social media, garnering 150,000 followers on Facebook and a Silver Button award from YouTube.
