Crowds flock to LA theater for ‘American Idol’ showdown

LOS ANGELES – Supporters of “American Idol” finalists Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips have filled the Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Several fans of both contenders for the new “American Idol” champ
carried posters screaming their support.

Filipino-Americans, some from
Jessica’s city of Chula Vista, California, showed colorful posters
declaring their love for the 16-year-old finalist.

Fil-Am media photographer Hydee Ursolino Abrahan and her friends cheerfully showed off their tickets before they went inside the theater.

A group of young Caucasian girls screamed “Jessica!” for a FOX TV reporter.

Phillips’ supporters, mostly young girls, also carried posters for the finalist.
