Maine Mendoza came to her boyfriend Arjo Atayde’s defense after he was called out for allegedly violating health protocols while filming in Baguio City. Atayde and nine others from the production crew tested positive for COVID-19.

Baguio City mayor Benjamin Magalong ordered a probe on the health protocol violations allegedly made by Atayde’s camp. He explained that the group was directed to stay in a bubble during the duration of their shoot, but they are said to have gone in and out of the city without going through triage.

Atayde’s production company Feelmaking Productions vowed that it will cooperate with the local government. It also assured that it has coordinated with the city in implementing “necessary safety protocols.” Meanwhile, Mendoza hoped that the actor will get to “tell his side” about the incident.

“I am not ‘tolerating’ him but there’s just so much you do not know about the story,” the actress said through her Twitter page yesterday, Aug. 18, in response to fan queries. “[I] hope he gets the chance to tell his side and the context of what had happened these past few days.”

Mendoza urged fans to avoid basing judgments solely on what they see online, noting that they may just be getting “an angle of the real scenario.”

The actress was responding to one @ana_brescia2 who pointed out that the safety of many people were sacrificed with Atayde and the film crew’s actions.

Atayde was rushed to a hospital in Manila last Tuesday, Aug. 17, after suffering from high fever, headaches and difficulty in breathing. Nine other members of the film crew who tested positive for COVID-19 are asymptomatic and in quarantine. JB
