Singer-actress Angeline Quinto said that if there was one wish that her adoptive mother, Sylvia or Mama Bob, had that she failed to fulfill before the latter passed away, it was for her to finally have a family of her own.“Almost all of what Mama Bob said she dreamed for me, I was able to fulfill—to become a professional singer, as well as to improve our status in life. She also hoped to meet her grandkids from me before she passed on, but that didn’t happen,” Angeline recently told reporters who attended her ceremonial contract signing as the brand ambassador of the cosmetic line Ayesha.

“These days, I would whisper a prayer to Mama Bob to ask her to help me become more discerning. I also want to be able to meet the right guy for me. I don’t want to commit the mistakes I’ve made in my previous relationships. I know this will happen in God’s time,” said the 31-year-old.Mama Bob suffered from stroke on Sept. 19 last year and had been hospitalized until she died on Nov. 7.

“I miss her almost every day. There were days when her absence became really unbearable, so I decided to sleep in her bedroom. No one uses my bedroom these days. When I feel sad, I go to her room and cry there. It’s where I can really feel her presence,” Angeline told Inquirer Entertainment.

‘Nothing permanent’

Shortly after Mama Bob’s death, Angeline got infected with the COVID-19 virus and went on self-isolation for 14 days. “Those two weeks were really hard for me. As an effect of the quarantine, I kept thinking of a lot of things, mostly negative. I had asked myself, ‘Will I die now? Mama Bob just died. Am I next?’ or say, ‘What about my plan to have my own family?’”She recalled: “What I realized because of that experience was that there’s nothing permanent in this life. God tries to teach us new lessons every day so we have to be mindful. We should also take a look at what we have, count our blessings, instead of feeling bad about what we don’t have. I, for example, lost my sense of smell and taste. I also had fever. But because of the nature of the illness I had, there was no one to comfort me. I felt alone. Even the people who live in the house with me can’t go inside my room to keep me company. They just speak to me from outside my room.”

Appreciate

Angeline further said: “That experience also made me realize that a lot of us compare ourselves to others and complain about the things they have that we don’t. Let’s stop doing that already. We should learn to appreciate the good things He is giving us on a daily basis. We will soon realize that we have more than what we ask for.”Angeline said it is also important to start planning for one’s future now. “I’m proud to say that I have so many people—some of whom I’ve met while I was just starting in this business—helping me achieve this. I guess if not for them, I’ve long given up. They keep pushing me to do better, to achieve my personal goals. The people behind Ayesha are some of them. If you also have people like them in your life, embrace them. Don’t let go of them,” she pointed out.

‘Slowly coming back’

The singer-actress said a lot of her shows abroad were rescheduled to 2022 as a result of the pandemic. This is why she is now focused on making content for her YouTube channel, Love Angeline Quinto, as well as her stint in ABS-CBN shows like “ASAP” and “It’s Showtime.”“It’s good that we’re now getting a lot of inquiries for shows here and abroad. They’re slowly coming back. There’s also this movie with Alex Gonzaga that’s currently in postproduction. I’ll be able to share with you details about the project soon,” she said. When asked to give advice to her followers in terms of practicing self-care and loving oneself, this was Angeline’s reply: “’Wag tamarin magpaganda! I was like that before. I really didn’t care much about how I look off-cam. My problem has always been having large facial pores. Although I’ve always been very candid about the medical procedures I’ve done in the past (liposuction, breast reduction, and eyelid surgery).”“There are really moments when you wake up not feeling beautiful,” Angeline added. “This is because you don’t feel happy. These days, I make sure to express how grateful I am of my life, especially during this time of the pandemic, the moment I wake up in the morning. I encourage you to do the same. You’ll realize that, soon enough, people will start seeing what’s beautiful in you because they also feel your happiness.”
