Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach is calling on the public to also get vaccinated against COVID-19 after she received a dose in Mandaluyong.
“Why did I choose to get vaccinated? It’s as simple as me wanting to protect myself from getting and spreading the virus. I don’t want to risk the people around me — especially my loved ones — to get sick because of me,” Wurtzbach shared on Instagram last Sunday, June 27.
“Getting the vaccine can help us avoid becoming severely ill and therefore is a safer choice for us,” she added.
The beauty queen’s post came with photos of her during and after receiving the jab, including one showing she got vaccinated at SM Megamall under the Mandaluyong city government’s vaccination program.
Wurtzbach emphasized, however, that getting vaccinated does not mean that people can go back to their “old ways,” stressing, “Kailangan pa rin mag ingat at sundin ang mga basic health protocols (We still need to be careful and follow the basic health protocols).”
“Parang lang siyang (It is just like a) shield, an extra layer of protection for us,” the Miss Universe 2015 noted.
“So, let’s help one another fight this deadly virus by building immunity around us. When given the chance, please take whatever vaccine is made available to you,” Wurtzbach added.
She is now among the many celebrities who are vaccinated and also advocating inoculation among the public. Some of the other stars who have already gotten their jabs are Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo, Kim Chiu, Maine Mendoza, Dingdong Dantes, Marian Rivera, Kris Aquino, Julia Barretto and Gerald Anderson, among others. /ra
