As actors, Aljur Abrenica and Kylie Padilla have a solid grasp of what each other’s job entails, which, at times, can include being required to do intimate scenes on screen.
“Of course, we talk about our projects, like movies and television dramas. And it’s understandable if there are intimate scenes; I understand if she needs to do it, too. That’s how it is [as actors],” Aljur told the Inquirer in a recent virtual story conference for the upcoming sexy drama film, “Nerisa,” where he will be paired with beauty queen-turned-actress Cindy Miranda.
“The good thing about it is that you’re able to give [what the character needs] without hesitation—you’re the character that you portray,” added the actor, who has been married to Kylie for two years now, and with whom he has two sons: Alas Joaquin and Axl Romeo.
And having been in the biz for some time now, both Aljur and Kylie know how to separate work from their personal lives. “We know how to compartmentalize work and personal stuff,” he said.
Meanwhile, addressing rumors from early this year that his marriage was going through a rough patch, the 31-year-old celebrity admitted that he and Kylie had a problem that they “mismanaged.”
“What I can say is that every couple faces challenges… But we’re good and we’re doing everything that’s best for us and the kids,” he said.
Directed by Lawerence Fajardo, “Nerisa” is expected to premiere on Viva Entertainment’s streaming platform, Vivamax, in the coming months. It also stars Elizabeth Oropesa, Bembol Rocco, Sheree Bautista, Guji Lorenzana and AJ Raval.
Like most television or film productions in the time of COVID-19, Aljur and the rest of the cast have to be in a locked-in taping session. But there are good things about such a setup, too, he said.
“You have more time to brainstorm and talk with the director, the writers and everyone on the set. That’s important, so we can be more knowledgeable and enhance the story and the characters. That’s one of the advantages.”
