Although Rabiya Mateo did not bring home the Miss Universe 2020 crown, previous titleholders Catriona Gray and Pia Wurtzbach continue to support her. Mateo made it to the pageant’s Top 21.

“Woooow this year is intense!! Sending Rabiya all of our love! She made our country proud!” Gray, who won the pageant in 2018, said on her Twitter page today, May 17.

“RABIYA WE LOVE YOU thank you for pouring your heart for the Philippines. We see your heart, Queen,” Wurtzbach, who took home the crown in 2015, stated also on Twitter, today.

The Philippines has four Miss Universe wins so far: Gloria Diaz in 1969, Margie Moran in 1973, and Wurtzbach and Gray.

“Laban Rabiya! Bring home the 5th crown!” Diaz cheered Mateo through her Instagram Story, a few hours before the pageant aired today.

Miss Universe delegates who made it to the Top 10 were: Jamaica, Dominican Republic, India, Peru, Australia, Puerto Rico, Thailand, Costa Rica, Mexico and Brazil. The winner is yet to be announced, as of writing.

Mateo, who is from Balasan, Iloilo, is one of the 74 candidates who entered the Miss Universe pageant this year, held at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. JB
