Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, who is currently quarantined in Australia, talked about her realizations about being away from her family amid the pandemic.

“Good morning from Adelaide! 2 days down, 13 days to go for mandatory hotel quarantine,” she said while showing a photo of herself lounging on a couch, on her Instagram page today, May 6. She recently took a flight to Australia to see her parents, whom she has not been with for over a year.

“I’ve been calling my parents every day, we’re all so excited. I can’t remember a time that I felt so much anticipation in the last year,” she added.

The beauty queen also revealed that she had to postpone work engagements just to see her family, and she considers it to be an “easy” decision to make.

“In deciding to come here to Australia I had to choose to either cancel [or] postpone work, or to not see my family — and I feel like one of the biggest realizations I’ve had in this season is that relationships and family are the most important things,” she stated.

She also acknowledged that this arrangement may not work for all people, since there are numerous border and travel restrictions that have to be met before people can come overseas.

“I’m sharing my family and I’s story because I pray that it’d give some kind of hope to all of you who are away from your family,” she said. “Keep holding on to each other, even though it may be from afar.”

Gray turned emotional when she talked about reuniting with her parents earlier this week. She also recalled the cancelled flights, swab tests and applications she had to go through until she was finally able to fly out of the Philippines. JB
