One of the 14 finalists in reality show “Pilipinas Got Talent 2” will be declared grand winner and bring home a cash prize of P2 million, after the viewers’ choice is revealed on the “Live Results Night” at the Araneta Coliseum tonight at 8.
The winner could come from a long list of singing acts—the Madrigal Siblings of Cainta, Rizal; acoustic heartthrob Jem Cubil of Talisay, Cebu; the DJP Trio of Bacolod, Negros Occidental; young balladeer John Michael Narag of Mabini, Pangasinan; multitalented crooner Marcelito Pomoy of Imus, Cavite, and Buildex Pagales, dubbed the Pinoy Bruno Mars, of Digos City, Davao.
Five dance acts vigorously displayed their wares as well in yesterday’s “Live Performance Night,” also at the Big Dome. They are the Freestylers of Calamba, Laguna; B4 of Baguio City; the tap-dancing brothers Happy Feet of Libona, Bukidnon; Filogram of Baguio City, and the power dance duo of Leoniel Enopia and Elizabeth Dazo of Bacolod.
Rico the Magician, from Caloocan City, impressed viewers with his tricks, while Angel Calalas of Cainta earned nods with his hula-hoop exhibition. Davao City’s Skeights, the only band to make it to this year’s grand finals, had the audience singing along.
First grand winner
“Pilipinas Got Talent,” based on the “Got Talent” British TV franchise conceived and owned by Simon Cowell’s Syco Company, aired its first season on ABS-CBN in February 2010. It produced its first grand winner, Jovit Baldivino, a siomai vendor from Batangas, four months later. After his triumph, Jovit has released two albums under Star Records and staged a major concert at the Music Museum.
