Maine Mendoza apologized for her recently resurfacing tweets from around a decade ago, admitting that it was “careless” of her to make such statements.
The 26-year-old Kapuso star shared that she has been receiving a lot of messages regarding her tweets made from 2010 to 2011, when she was around 15 to 16 years old.
“Sending my sincerest apologies to those whom I have offended with my tweets way back then,” Mendoza posted on Twitter yesterday, April 16.
“It was my careless self talking and I didn’t mean to offend anyone. I am sincerely sorry,” she added.
Through the years, I have learned to be more careful with my thoughts and words – and how it would affect the people around me. Hope you hear me out this time. Praying for everyone’s safety and sanity in these trying times. ♥️

“Through the years, I have learned to be more careful with my thoughts and words – and how it would affect the people around me,” Mendoza continued in the next tweet.
“Hope you hear me out this time. Praying for everyone’s safety and sanity in these trying times,” she added.
Mendoza’s now-deleted tweets, which included the N-word and used “bading” (gay) as an insult, have drawn mixed reaction online.
Some netizens have branded her a racist and a homophobic for the said tweets, while others have been defending her, pointing out that people can grow and change. /ra
