Inquirer stalwart Nestor U. Torre will be feted by friends, proteges and colleagues in “For the Love of the N.U.T.,” a memorial and virtual get-together tonight, hosted by Ali Sotto. The show will pay tribute to his contributions to theater and the arts, journalism and the entertainment industry.
The award-winning writer-actor-director, who edited, among other sections, Saturday Special, and wrote a widely read daily column in the Inquirer’s Entertainment section (Viewfinder) before he suffered a stroke in 2018, died on April 6 at Sta. Ana Hospital exactly one month before his 79th birthday.
Guests include Boots Anson Roa-Rodrigo, National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, Araceli Limcaco Dans, Leo Rialp, Clodualdo “Doy” del Mundo Jr., Leo Valdez, and some of the actors he directed and mentored, led by Isay Alvarez Seña.
Holy Mass is at 7:30 p.m. (Manila time), followed by a special program at 8 p.m.
