Veteran actress and COVID-19 survivor Cherry Pie Picache opened up on her weeks of struggle against the disease in hopes of inspiring others amid the rising number of infections in the country.

“I was not sure if [I] should post, though after reflecting and praying… maybe it will be of help, send a little ray of hope and inspiration, a way to express my gratefulness and to always simply and honestly share a concrete testimony of God’s gift of faith and to just trust His loving mercy to heal and restore,” Picache shared on Instagram on March 25.

“To each of my prayer warriors, my family and dearest friends, my Dreamscape and ABS-CBN family, doctors, you know who you are… I will forever be thankful, grateful and I am blessed to have all your love, support and help in one of my yet again, tough, painful and scariest [three-week] battle,” she added.

Picache also disclosed that she is grateful for everyone’s help despite her being admittedly stubborn, disclosing that she did not want to get hospitalized then.

The COVID-19 survivor also expressed her gratitude to her “patient, loving, kind son” Anton for taking care of her during the ordeal, acknowledging that it was not easy.

Picache also thanked her friend Jozen Curva for her prayers and for “reading to [her] the Word of God and [her] lullaby( through phone) in one of [her] most difficult nights.”

The country has recently been experiencing a surge in COVID-19 cases, over a year after the country was placed under lockdown.

The Department of Health earlier today, March 27, reported 9,595 additional cases, pushing the total number of infections to 712,442. This increase also raised the current number of active infections to 118,112.

Metro Manila, Laguna, Cavite, Bulacan, and Rizal are currently placed under a general community quarantine bubble from March 22 to April 4. Multiple sources have disclosed, however, that a one-week enhanced community quarantine is planned to be imposed in Metro Manila and nearby provinces starting tomorrow, although Malacañang has yet to confirm this as of this writing.  /ra
