‘Little Miss Sunshine’ star Abigail Breslin ‘devastated’ after losing dad to Covid-19

Actress Abigail Breslin is grieving the loss of her father who died from Covid-19 complications.

The “Zombieland” star, who first gained critical acclaim as a child actress in 2006’s “Little Miss Sunshine,” paid tribute to her dad Michael Breslin in an Instagram post on Friday, Feb. 26 (Feb. 27 in Manila). He was 78 and battled the disease for about three weeks.

“I’m in shock and devastation,” she said. “At 6:32 PM EST, my sweet, perfect, amazing, heroic, wonderful dada passed away after my family and I said goodbye.”

“It was COVID-19 that cut my sweet daddy’s life too short,” she added.

Among the photos she shared was one of her and her dad on the red carpet in 2007, coming face to face with Nicole Kidman.

The “Little Miss Sunshine” actress spoke highly of his character and shared fond memories of him.

“My dad was a hilarious, boisterous, tenacious, rebellious, intelligent, sweet, incredible human being. He loved life. He loved his family. He loved the simple things,” she said.

Abigail announced last Feb. 10 that her dad tested positive for the virus and had to be placed on a ventilator.

She also thanked medical staff of New York hospital Mount Sinai Beth Israel for caring for her father, as per her Instagram post today, Feb. 28: “They made an extremely difficult time exceedingly less painful with their attentiveness, kindness, and understanding as well as their best efforts to save my dad.”

Besides Abigail, Michael is survived by his wife Kim and sons Spencer and Ryan, who are also actors. JB
