Anne Curtis is raising funds for marginalized children as her baby daughter, Dahlia Amélie, nears celebrating her first birthday next month.
“Annnd just like that we have an [11-month-old] bookworm,” the doting mother posted on Instagram yesterday, Feb. 2. “It truly makes us so happy that she is fond of books.”
“She loves [storytime] and looking and flipping the pages all by herself. Big girl na [crying emoji] (She is a big girl now),” Curtis added.
Curtis’ post came with a photo of Dahlia reading a book about Australian animals while her flower namesake is arranged beside her to form the number 11.
As she celebrates Dahlia’s life, Curtis is helping marginalized children and mothers with the fundraiser she set up for the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
“Time has definitely gone by so fast.. in a month, our little girl will be turning 1.. [and] to celebrate life of little ones, we’re raising funds to help UNICEF give vulnerable babies and disadvantaged children the childhood they deserve,” Curtis shared.
“[There’s] nothing we want more than for ALL children to be given the best start at life. So, to our friends, family, fans and followers I hope you can join this meaningful fundraiser for Dahlia’s birthday and contribute to this cause. Would mean the world to us,” Curtis said.
The actress said her family will match the full amount to be raised and will donate everything to UNICEF Philippines.
In the gogetfunding page, Curtis shared that the “journey of and to parenthood has really taught us how important the first 1000 days of life are for a child.”
The first-time mom emphasized that these 1,000 days, from pre-natal care to the baby’s first steps, “play a very vital role in every child’s health and development.”
“Sadly, not all children and mothers have access to the information or essentials needed to ensure both mother and child are healthy and happy. There’s nothing I wish more than for ALL children to be given the best start in life,” Curtis stressed.
Willing donors will be helping families receive water kits and malnourished children receive ready-to-use therapeutic food, as well as provide them with vaccines and learning materials, among many others.
Dahlia is Curtis’ first child with husband Erwann Heussaff. The two tied the knot back in November 2017 in Queenstown, New Zealand, while Dahlia was born in Australia on March 2, 2020. /ra
