Pandemic a boon for Danilo’s business

While a lot of local businesses were forced to close down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as other natural disasters that befell our country recently, former actor-dancer Danilo Barrios shared that what happened to their family business was the exact opposite. “God is good because our business became even stronger. Our sales actually went up,” said the former member of the ‘90s all-male dance group, Streetboys.

Danilo and his wife Regina run Tatio Pharma Corp., a company that sells food supplements, cosmetics and branded items online.

“People stocked up on vitamins in order to boost their immune system. The demand for our products increased during the pandemic. We also welcomed new resellers and clients. We’re happy to be able to give work opportunities to people who, like us, are forced to stay home because of the virus,” Danilo told Inquirer Entertainment.

As a way of sharing the blessings that his family received last year, Danilo’s company embarked on a four-day outreach program in Isabela and Cagayan Valley to help people there who were affected by typhoon “Ulysses.”

“In Tatio Pharma, we share our blessings yearly; but last December, we made an effort to give more than we used to. All of us, including the family members of our staff, helped out in repacking relief goods. We were able to complete 10,000 relief packs for people in Isabela and Cagayan Valley. We went there to personally hand out what we’ve prepared. The experience really warmed my heart,” Danilo recalled.

These days, Danilo continues to turn down offers for him to come out of show biz retirement. He said he would rather provide for his children by way of their online-selling business.

Danilo’s last TV project, the fantasy-adventure series “Imortal,” aired way back in 2010. “Yes, there are offers to rejoin show biz, but my focus these days are the kids. Show biz will always be there, but my children are now at an age when they need guidance the most. Kids grow up so quickly,” he pointed out.

Danilo’s wife recently gave birth to their third child, Alejandro. They have two other kids, Ysabelle and Hugo; while Danilo has a daughter named Princess Stephanie from a previous relationship.

“Alejandro is really a blessing. I’m grateful that Regina had a safe delivery. What I really want is to have two more kids. God willing, hahabol kami. We really want a big family,” Danilo said. “They’re the source of my happiness these days. To see them healthy and happy completes my day.”

As a form of self-improvement, Danilo also took up a short course in culinary arts, “In order to learn how to make healthier food for my kids,” he pointed out. “We’re also not getting any younger. We need to stay fit to be able to do more for our family.” INQ
