HERE are lessons learned by some of my friends and family members from their mothers:

Businesswoman Evelyn Singson’s mother lived by example: “The best lesson she taught me was how she lived her life. She was loving, giving and kind—and she would do anything for her children.”

Dr. Rebecca Singson shares, “‘If you can’t do something to the best of your ability, don’t do it at all’—that’s what my mom told me.”

Marissa Oca’s mother taught her, “Always be a lady.”

The mom of Suzette Tongson always reminded her  to study with patience and diligence.

Art-book publisher, Marlene Aguilar, is guided by one of her mom’s maxims: “Fear is a choice you should never take.”

PR consultant, Milen de Quiroz, discloses:  “My mother taught me to be a strong and loving mother. She told me, ‘Take care of your children, because they are your treasure, and respect your husband, since you decided that he was worth marrying!’”

In my case, my mother taught me how to be a survivor. She also said that reading is the best form of education, and reminded me, “Take what’s beautiful, and reject what’s ugly.”
