Angel Locsin praises Magalong’s sense of honor, accountability

MANILA, Philippines — Actress Angel Locsin on Saturday lauded the “sense of accountability” of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong, who recently resigned as contact tracing czar over the violation of health protocols during a party that he had attended.

In an Instagram post, Locsin shared a photo of her having a meeting with Magalong about Covid-19 vaccines. She cited how the mayor strictly followed health rules during their meeting.

“I know he’s [Magalong] all over the news lately, so, I just want to share our experience with him. He reminded us to wear our masks and face shields and to respect the locals by following safety protocols,” said Locsin.

“He also wore his mask the whole time. Just putting this here not to justify pero para may ibang side naman :) (so that we see another side.),” she added.

“Ang refreshing makita sa balita na may accountability at sense of honor ang isang opisyal para aminin ang pagkakamali. Kelangan natin ng mga ganito. Also, magaling siya,” the actress further said.

(It is refreshing to see in the news that there is a sense of accountability and sense of honor of an official to confess that he did something wrong. We need these kinds of officials. He is a good official.)

On Friday, Presidential spokesman Harry Roque said they did not accept Magalong’s resignation following the birthday party of internet personality Tim Yap at The Manor in Baguio City last Jan. 17.

Several persons at the party, including Yap and Magalong’s wife, were seen without their masks on.

On Thursday, Yap and Actress KC Concepcion were slapped with P1,500 fines over health violations committed during the party while Magalong’s wife paid a P1,000 fine.
