Elliot Page, wife Emma Portner to divorce: ‘We remain close friends’

Elliot Page has filed for divorce after marrying his wife, Emma Portner, in 2018.
The “Umbrella Academy” star filed for the dissolution of their marriage in Manhattan yesterday, Jan. 26, TMZ reported.
Page and Portner have since issued a joint statement, as per Page Six: “After much thought and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to divorce following our separation last summer. We have the utmost respect for each other and remain close friends.”
Portner, a professional dancer, was supportive of Page after he came out as transgender last December. Page previously came out as gay in 2014.
“Elliot’s existence is a gift in and of itself. Shine on sweet E. Love you so much,” Portner said on social media as she shared Page’s coming out statement.
The two had a whirlwind romance before tying the knot. They met on Instagram in 2017, when Page saw one of Portner’s dance videos and messaged her. They kept details of their wedding under wraps, simply announcing on social media in January 2018 that they were married. Niña V. Guno /ra
