Veteran actress Gina Pareño is eyeing the role of a lola, or a Filipino grandmother, for an upcoming Disney film that is yet to be disclosed.

Pareño took to Twitter on Jan. 7 to express her interest in playing the said role, which may just allow the award-winning actress to show off her acting chops in Hollywood.

“Pasado ba ako pag nag audition ako sa Disney (Will I pass if I audition for Disney)? RETWEET IF YOU AGREE,” Pareño posted, sharing a photo of herself along with the casting call material from The Walt Disney Company.

It appears that lots of people really do want to see the veteran actress to take on the Disney role, as her tweet has so far gained over 25,000 retweets and more than 99,000 likes since its posting.

The American media giant is searching for a Filipino or Filipino-American female 50 to 90 years old who is fluent in English for the role, as seen on the casting call currently up on Project Casting.

Sarah Finn Casting, currently being assisted by Katie Doyle Casting, is requiring applicants to record a short introduction video about themselves or their family, which may be delivered in Tagalog or in any Filipino language. They should, however, introduce themselves in English.

“No professional acting experience is required, but the applicant must speak English fluently and be comfortable traveling on a plane to Atlanta. They also should be currently authorized to work in the United States (which means she should be a US citizen, a green card holder or an O-1 visa holder),” the casting directors said.

If Pareño ends up being chosen for the role, she will be joining shooting in mid-February in Atlanta, Georgia, in the US, according to the casting call.

While the project is only referred to as “Disney film,” Project Casting speculates in a Dec. 23 blog that the “lola” role is for the upcoming Marvel movie “Spider-Man 3,” which will also be shooting in Atlanta.

More specifically, the role is believed to be of the grandmother of Peter Parker’s friend Ned, who is played by Filipino-American actor Jacob Batalon.  /ra
