Judy Ann Santos had nothing but loving words for her “ate,” Megastar Sharon Cuneta, as the latter turned 55 years old yesterday, Jan. 6.
Santos penned a short yet sweet birthday greeting for Cuneta, recalling the time she got to work with the Megastar for the first time ever, as seen on her Instagram page also yesterday.
“Almost 2 decades ago, [I] was given the chance to work with THE MEGASTAR… nervous and giddy from our first day of shoot to our last day.. her smile, charm, honesty, generosity, professionalism, laughter and most of all her love.. still outshines from day [one] till now,” Santos said.
Santos’s greeting was aptly accompanied by a photo of her and Cuneta on the poster for the 2002 film “Magkapatid.”
“[We] are sisters by heart.. a treasure that no one can ever take away from us.. happiest birthday to you @reallysharoncuneta my ate!!!” Santos stressed. “Our whole family will always be here for you no matter what.. [I] love you ate! Enjoy life and love forever!”
Last December, Santos surprised Cuneta with an adorable teacup Maltese as a gift, which the Megastar has since named Toby. Santos’ gift has become one of 10 dogs in Cuneta’s home.
In an episode of “The Sharon Cuneta Show” on YouTube in September 2020, the two shared with fans how they came to be best friends for 18 years now.
While Cuneta admits that she cannot pinpoint the exact moment they became friends as it happened “organically,” she shared that their bond grew closer around halfway through working on “Magkapatid.”
“During our movie, ‘yung shoot natin, towards the mid-part, personal na ‘yung pinagu-usapan natin. Work habits, personal life, ‘yung problema ko sa trabaho ko, ‘yung problema ko kay Tito Alfie (Lorenzo). Alam ko ikaw ‘yung tinatawagan ko noon,” Santos explained.
(During our movie, towards the mid-part of our shoot, we were already talking about personal matters. Work habits, personal life, my problem with my work, my problem with Tito Alfie. I know that you were the one I called back then.)
“From then on, hindi [na] nawala ‘yung communication natin. I’d go to your concerts, you’d go to my premiere nights. Tapos hanggang sa mga birthdays ng mga bagets mo. ‘Yun na. Nagdire-diretso na,” she added.
(From then on, our communication did not stop. I’d go to your concerts, you’d go to my premiere nights. Even on the birthdays of your children. It hasn’t stopped since then.) JB
