Hollywood celebrities did not mince words as they slammed the protesters who broke into the United States Capitol building Wednesday, Jan. 6.
Supporters of Donald Trump smashed windows as they stormed Capitol in a bid to force Congress to overturn Trump’s election loss. At the time, a joint session of Congress was being held inside the building to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s win.
Many celebrities have since taken to social media to condemn the violence of Trump’s supporters.
“I’m speechless,” actor Chris Evans tweeted.

In succeeding tweets, he also wondered how things would be different if the protesters weren’t white.
“Just think of the carnage had they not been white. So many people enabled this,” he said.

Singer Pink has expressed her shame over what happened.
“As a United States [citizen], and the daughter of two veterans, and the sister of another, I am ashamed of what is happening in Washington,” she said. “Hypocrisy, shame, embarrassment. Unpatriotic hypocritical sheep drinking poison [Kool-Aid]. This is a sad day for America.”

Mark Ruffalo also called the end of Trump.
“He will never, ever hold office or credibility again,” Ruffalo said. “Same with all his GOP enablers. Time to move into the light America. DING DONG MAGA IS DEAD.”

Rapper Cardi B, meanwhile, found the storming of Capitol quite ironic, as she alluded to the Black Lives Matter protests against police brutality in the summer of 2020 following the death of a black man, George Floyd, in the hands of police.
“The irony is pretty funny…” she said. “Weren’t people just wild animals in the summer for demanding justice and now? Let me just watch.”
During the height of the BLM protests, a nurse in Mississippi created a Facebook post that called BLM protesters “thugs” and “wild animals,” as per WREG on June 5, 2020.

Model and host Padma Lakshmi, on the other hand, believes that Trump-supporting senators and representatives are complicit in what she called “domestic terrorism.”
“The armed people who stormed the Capitol today, smashing windows, going through Senators’ desks [and] computers and attempting to replace the American flag with a Trump flag are not: Trump supporters, protesters, agitators. They are terrorists,” she said in another tweet.
Every single Trump supporting @GOPHouse and @SenateGOP member is responsible for this domestic terrorism.

Actor and comedian Josh Gad also said Trump should be arrested for encouraging protesters to storm Capitol.

In another tweet, he said that the Grand Old Party should be shown out the door and demolished.
“We must eradicate this cancer from our politics. There is no more place for this. The Party must be demolished and rebuilt or replaced,” said Gad. “It has been radicalized and brainwashed. Today will go down in history. It is frankly the point of no return.”

The protesters carried out the assault on the Capitol following a Trump rally in the nearby National Mall where Trump delivered false claims and conspiracy theories about why he should still be president of the United States despite losing to Biden. Afterwards, he encouraged them to march to Capitol, where chaos soon ensued. Cody Cepeda/JB
