Vice Ganda disclosed that he could not help but remember his father’s murder and relive the trauma after watching the clip of the recent police shooting in Tarlac.
“Natulala ako matapos ko mapanuod ung video. Bumalik yung trauma ko. Bumalik lahat ng pilit ko ng ibinabaon na alaala,” the comedian-television host tweeted on Dec. 21. (I was left speechless after watching the video. My trauma came back. Everything that I have tried to bury has returned.)
“[‘Yung] putok ng baril. [‘Yung] itsura nung tatay ko na parang baboy na sinasakay sa jeep. [‘Yung] mukha ng demonyo. Ang bigat ng nararamdaman ko,” he added. (The gunshot. How my father looked like a pig that was being carried into a jeepney. The face of the demon. It feels so heavy.)

In the following tweet, the TV host called for justice for the victims and joined the #StopTheKillingsPH protest movement online, emphasizing that he hopes others would be given justice, unlike his own father and family.
“Sana’y wag silang magaya sa Tatay ko na di nabigyan ng hustisya. Sana’y wag silang magaya sa pamilya namin na namanhid na [lang] sa tagal ng paghihintay ng katarungan. Sana wala [nang] makaranas ng kasamaang ito. #JusticeforSonyaGregorio #JusticeforFrankGregorio #StopTheKillingsPH,” he stressed.
(I hope they do not end up like my father who was not given justice. I hope they do not end up like my family, which has been numbed by the huge amount of time that passed by while waiting for justice. I hope no one else experiences this.)

Over a petty quarrel, PSMSgt. Jonel Nuezca fatally shot 52-year-old Sonya Gregorio and her 25-year-old son Frank outside their home in Tarlac last Sunday afternoon, Dec. 20.
Vice Ganda’s father was shot dead in 1991 by a gunman who remains at large.
After a clip of the killings surfaced online, rights groups, celebrities and netizens have since protested against police brutality and impunity, condemning the killings of civilians at the hands of the police.
Nuezca has since been detained at the Paniqui town police station. He had been indicted for two counts of murder. JB
