Grammy Award-winning singer Lizzo surprised her mother, Shari Johnson-Jefferson, with a brand new Audi for Christmas.
Lizzo shared the heartfelt moment with her followers in a post on Instagram, Dec. 21 (Dec. 20 in the United States).
“Got my mommy a brand new Audi for Xmas. I remember crying in my car when my daddy passed, no job no money nowhere to live, wishing I could one day provide for my family,” said Lizzo.
“I couldn’t do it for my dad so ima make sure I spoil Mama. Happy holidays y’all.”
Lizzo also shared video clips of the surprise in her Stories. In the clips, Shari can be seen walking towards her daughter with her eyes closed.
“Merry Christmas mommy, open your eyes,” Lizzo can be heard saying.
Shari squealed in joy the moment she saw the black Audi SUV, which was wrapped with a giant red ribbon.
“Got you [an] Audi, girl! That’s [an] Audi, girl, you see the circles on it, come on!” added Lizzo.
Shari, meanwhile, appeared to be in disbelief.
“You see these things on television and you never expect it to happen to yourself,” she mused as she walked towards her car.
The “Good As Hell” singer can say she’s come a long way. Before she shot to worldwide fame, Lizzo had lived in her car during Thanksgiving in 2009, the same year her father died.
“2009 I was a girl in Houston, Texas, with no plan, no hope, no will to carry on,” Lizzo said on Instagram last Jan. 1. “2019 is the year my album and song went number 1. 2019 is the year I told my mama ‘I can buy you a house.'”
And now, her mom also has a brand new car to boot. NVG
