Irene Bedard, the voice actress of Pocahontas in the classic Disney film, was arrested twice in three days over misdemeanor charges including domestic violence and disorderly conduct, among others.
Bedard, 53, was first arrested on the night of Nov. 27 at the home of her ex-husband Denny Wilson in Ohio, USA, as per police reports cited by TMZ on Dec. 2.
Police reportedly responded to a possible domestic violence situation. When they arrived, they saw Bedard holding a belt on one hand while shouting something close to “Look, they sent the white man to get me!”
Authorities also noted in the report that Bedard appeared very intoxicated, smelled of alcohol and was having trouble standing straight.
According to Wilson, Bedard came to his home pounding on his door. After being allowed to enter, Bedard reportedly yelled at their 17-year-old son and kicked him when he tried to restrain her.
Police also stated that Bedard was also violent when they arrested her, resisting, screaming at and kicking officers on their way to the station.
She was booked for several misdemeanor charges, namely, domestic violence, assault and resisting arrest, according to the report. Her teenage son, however, stated that he does not want to press charges against Bedard and instead wants her to get help.
Bedard was able to post bond, but on Nov. 30 she was arrested again for allegedly harassing a hotel clerk. The police report claimed that while an officer tried to calm her down, Bedard was aggressive.
The actress again appeared intoxicated and had “red, glassy bloodshot eyes,” as per local newspaper Springfield News-Sun yesterday, Dec. 3.
Police received a call at around 2:20 a.m. from a night manager of the Suburban Extended Stay, who told authorities that Bedard needed to be escorted out of the hotel.
Bedard was reportedly “combative” when she was arrested and during the ride to the Greene County Jail, allegedly kicking at the rear partition of the police cruiser.
“At the jail, Irene continued being combative with several corrections officers and had to be dragged into the jail by those officers,” police said in the report as cited by the news outlet.
Bedard has since been scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 8 for disorderly conduct. On Dec. 15, she is set to appear in court again in connection with her first case. Ian Biong /ra
