During our recent exclusive one-on-one video interview with Nicholas Pinnock for Fox channel’s acclaimed TV show “For Life,” we asked the series’ 47-year-old lead star what it was like acting in it with hip-hop hotshot 50 Cent (aka Curtis Jackson), who also executive produces the show.
“That’s a good question,” the British actor said. “My honest answer is, I don’t know. And the reason I say ‘I don’t know’ is because 50 Cent is a global pop icon, who’s known in five continents on the planet.
“But the person I met was Curtis Jackson, who was very professional, very collaborative, very charismatic, very funny. He was a real team player—and, yeah, we’ve become friends. So, I don’t really know who 50 Cent is—and that’s the truth. I don’t know that side of him at all!”
The series which airs its fourth episode on Thursday at 9:50 p.m. on Fox (channel 50 on SkyCable and channel 233 on Cignal), is based on the true story of Isaac Wright Jr., who was wrongfully convicted of drug charges. He went on to become a lawyer defending other inmates, proving his innocence along the way. The show boasts an 86-percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
To prepare for the interview, we also watched the police procedural series “Criminal UK,” where Nicholas plays detective inspector Paul Ottager.
Asked which side of the law he found more challenging to depict, Nicholas answered, “It’s not so much about which side is more challenging than the other; it’s rather the character. Whether you’re playing a criminal or someone from law enforcement, it always depends on how complex the character is. Therein lies the challenge. And I found both of them equally challenging for very different reasons.”
