Best advice from celebs’ moms

JANICE DE BELEN: Follow your heart.

It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday, so I asked some celebs about the best advice their moms ever gave them. I could write a book out of all the words of wisdom that my late great mom left me with. But if I had to pick one “Inday Badidayism,” it would be this: When dating a guy, see how he treats his mom because that’s how he will treat you eventually.

Kids, let’s all smother our mothers with love and gratitude even long after May 13 is over.

Anne Curtis: “When you get into a fight or misunderstanding with someone you love, words are barely needed. Just go over and hug them.”

FEATURED STORIES

Ogie Alcasid: “Family should always come first—no ifs and buts.”

Eugene Domingo: “My mother’s constant reminder is for me to save up and secure my future. We all know how unpredictable showbiz is, and I have been heeding that advice.”

KARYLLE: Don’t marry too early.

Baron Geisler: “Friends will come and go but family will always be family, no matter what! It’s true—my family loves me, no matter what.”

Mark Nelson: Respect others and see their point of view. Different backgrounds mean different opinions.

Pokwang:Mahalin ang anak para pagmamahal din ang isukli sa iyo balang araw.”

Janice de Belen: “In love, follow your heart. When it comes to career, always give it your 100 percent.”

POKWANG: Love your children.

Karylle: “Don’t marry too early. Mama got married when she was 16, so she knows what she’s talking about. For me, marriage is something to pray about and not for me to decide. But I definitely believe in marriage. For those who failed at it, family healing ang katapat niyan.”

Precious Lara Quigaman: “Go for it anak, but lift everything up to the Lord.”

Damage control

I wonder if the “damage control” team of Claudine Barretto and Raymart Santiago can save the couple’s involvement in last Sunday’s airport brawl with Ramon Tulfo—the way it desperately exhausted all means to clear Claud’s name at my expense in the “milk” issue we got embroiled in.

EUGENE DOMINGO: Save for your future.

The PR machine is mum about the airport incident. No PR budget from an ad agency, since there is no product involved, so the team is probably in a state of panic now.

What’s wrong if Tito Mon was taking footage of Claud berating the airline staff? As a media practitioner, that’s part of his job. The Santiagos were in a public place, and it’s not like Tito Mon took an unauthorized video of a private affair.

Celebs cannot hide their true colors for long. Not even camera lights can conceal their dark, dark side.

Respect

DEREK RAMSAY: Let’s respect Angel’s decision.

Tito Mon’s daughter Catherine sent me this Facebook message about that:   “They did not show any respect for my Dad. Parang ka-age na siya ng Dad nila. I wonder if this is how they treat their parents? But after all the support and love from all our friends and fans of the Tulfos, at least medyo gumaan ang pain. I will pray for the Santiago couple. Naaawa ako sa kanila, mga LIARS!”

Derek clams up

I checked on Derek Ramsay via text after news of his cool-off with girlfriend Angelica Panganiban broke out. His reply: “For now, I don’t want to say anything muna. Let’s respect Angel until she decides to talk.” Hopefully their cool-off won’t make their hearts turn cold.
