MANILA, Philippines — Actor Romnick Sarmenta has joined other celebrities in condemning red-tagging by wearing red lipstick.
“I can get behind this challenge #MaleFriendsInRedLipstick saying #NoToRedTagging. Defend our voices,” Sarmenta wrote on Oct. 25 in a Facebook post.
His post was accompanied by a photo of himself wearing red lipstick.
Other personalities who joined the call against red-tagging by wearing red lipstick were Agot Isidro, Pia Magalona, Cherry Pie Picache, Eugene Domingo, and Bituin Escalante.
The movement was started by actress Angel Locsin who denounced the red-tagging aimed at her and her family members by writing #NoToRedTagging and #YesToRedLipstick in a previous Instagram post.
Locsin made it clear that she, her sister Ella Colmenares, and relative Neri Colmenares are not part of the New People’s Army as claimed by a military official.
Armed Forces of the Philippines Southern Luzon Command chief Lt. Gen. Antonio Parlade Jr. had also earlier warned actress Liza Soberano against being used by women’s group Gabriela.
